The primary hypothesis of Stars Stones and Scholars is that the megaliths represent ancient surveys of the earth by astronomy, and that these feats of ancient surveying and of ancient surveyors can be reconstructed.

Moreover, these megaliths are often carved with figures in stone - thus far unrecognized or ignored - and many of these figures are among the greatest works of mankind's ancient sculpting art. We will be showing examples of these here.

Witcombe is a Professor of Art History at Sweet Briar College, Virginia whose site presents copious links to art resources around the web.

However, as of the date of the writing of this blog, Witcombe does not have our site megaliths.co.uk listed, so that we must regard his site as being incomplete.

From the official government side, the European Union has started a website called European Prehistoric Art.

Great about this site are the clickable maps of prehistoric art.
